What does Cloud Computing mean?
Cloud Computing is a service that enables convenient, fast, low cost, and on-demand access to computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be setup rapidly and scale as needed with minimal effort.
Why Should You Care?
“The cloud” is a friendly way of describing web-based services that are hosted outside of your organization. When you use cloud-based services, your IT infrastructure resides off-premises, and is maintained by a third party, instead of residing on a server at your business that you maintain. Many services you use every day are a part of the cloud— everything from websites, to web-based email to mobile banking and online photo storage. Because information is located online or “in the cloud,” you can access it virtually anywhere, from a PC, tablet or mobile phone.
Transitioning to the cloud offers numerous benefits, ranging from costs savings and increased productivity to disaster recovery.
7 Advantages of Cloud Computing
- 1) Reduce spending on technology infrastructure. No capital expense. Pay as you go on a monthly or yearly basis.
- 2) No servers needed, which means no hardware and software to purchase, install and maintain. Spending big money on infrastructure is over.
- 3) Worry free IT – Less support needed – no ongoing maintenance of systems. There is no hardware and software issues to worry about.
- 4) Backup is done in the cloud which offers built in business continuity and disaster recovery.
- 5) Improve Accessibility. Work anywhere – a workforce anywhere in the world can have access to information easily.
- 6) Easy to set up and use. Get started in minutes and setup new users in seconds. Less personnel training is needed.
- 7) Scale up or down as needed and with ease. Pay for what you need and grow quickly without worrying about servers and licenses.
