Time to protect yourself from viruses!
Antivirus is very important. From helping if you accidentally clicked a bad link or you opened a malicious email attachment, a properly configured antivirus can save the day. An antivirus, setup properly and up-to-date, has a good chance of preventing your system from becoming infected or leaking information to an attacker.
- To check to see if your antivirus is up-to-date, find your antivirus’s icon in the lower tray (by your system clock); Double-click on the AV’s icon to open it. Then find & click update.

- Open Task Manager and see if you have any out of place Start Up Items in the “Start up Tab”
- If you feel that you already might have a virus:
- Reboot the computer into SafeMode with networking
- Download and run RKill - This will prevent Malicious code from running while trying to use a AV scanner
- Download MalwareBytes antivirus, and install it to your computer. Then run the scanner with “custom” and select scan “Rootkits”
- Download Windows Tweaking Repair and run it twice in Safe Mode
